A Warm Winter’s Night @ Black Horse Run

Its Winter time, a starry sky, the lights are bright, and we’re enjoying some incredible wines and good food.  Who would have thought we could do this outside by the pool!   We did it on one of the last warm nights we had in the early part of Winter for the “Friends & Neighbors of Black Horse Run”,.  Just off Norwood Road and Old Creedmoor is a beautiful neighborhood that looks more like a winding horse farm than a great place for family and neighbors to gather.  Connie Swingle and her husband Jeff hosted one of the most fun and relaxed wine tastings to draw the year to a close.  “We thought it would be fun to do a wine tasting here at our clubhouse”, said Connie, “But when the weather turned out to be so warm, we decided to move everything out to pool side”.  What a great night we had, bunched up around the tables with plenty of pool side lighting and ambience – and lots of laughter and good time to be enjoyed!

Since this was my first time in Black Horse Run naturally I wanted to make a good impression so they would have Ah Tavolá back in the future.  As we mingled and enjoyed the Hugel Gentil reception wine,  it was as if I was home among people I had known for years.  The friendliness and social interaction abounded. Connie and Jeff worked to prepare several appetizers that would go well with the wines for the theme.  I even featured one of the “stars” of the movie “Sideways” – Jed Steele’s Santa Barbara Pinot Noir.  Whether it was the Oregon Pinot Gris, or the Spanish Crianza, this large group of BHR neighbors lavished in the wine and food – but it was easy to tell the company was a close knit extended family!

We had a great night, and I look forward to seeing you all again in April as we do the wine and beer tasting “The Flavor Hook – Matching Food with Beer & Wine”.
